Damn Right Media Films:

As well as outside commissions I Produce my own films under Damn Right Media, these are for Festivals, Web distribution and hopefully soon, Broadcast Television.

|Most recently my quirky short character portrait ‘Caravan Man’ was screened at 3 festivals in October and will be submitted to many more in the next year, visit the Caravan Man micro site for full details.

In the long run, I am editing a rambling road movie of a documentary shot over 5 months traveling round Australia, the edit is currently on hold while i seek further funding, visit the ‘Backroad To Beyond’ micro site to see the trailer and some rough cuts.

Caravan Man (7min - Documentary - HDV - May 2007):


On a small farm in Oxfordshire lives Philip Dod, a ninety two year old retired electrical engineer. Philip fills his barns and spare time collecting and restoring old machinery. He is particularly fond of Atco Mowing Machines of which he has over fifteen in various states of repair. But the most fascinating items in Philips collection are four Winchester caravans; heralded as ‘the Rolls Royce of caravans’ the Winchesters are all hand made between 1930 to 1950 and were home to Philip and his wife for many years.  
Philip is such an endearing character, and his child like enthusiasm for his machines, and especially his caravans is infectious, once you see the vans, their unique quality becomes obvious, and you cant help muttering the old saying ‘they don’t make them like that anymore’.

Backroad To Beyond (Documentary - HDV - Feb to Aug 2006):


When two brothers leave the peace and quiet of the English countryside on a mission to circumnavigate Australia and discover the essence of the great Australian road trip, what could possibly go wrong?
This is a film I shot over 6 months traveling round Ozz in a Ute with my brother, we went with three goals in mind; Circumnavigate the continent, learn an extreme sport, and discover the essence of the great Australian road trip, that is to find out why so many Australians retire to the road, becoming nomadic travelers in Winnebago’s and VW campers. With 6 months worth of video, I now have an epic task of editing some kind of meaning full film out of it, watch this space!
